I’m currently working on a new book which will be a counterpoint to the one on Billy the Kid. Its subject is based on the character of Hotei ( the ubiquitous “ Laughing Buddha” ) who was a Zen practitioner and the recipient of an imperfect satori and in consequence spent his very long life wandering the dusty roads of southern China dispensing small gifts from a capacious sack to delighted little children and living in a state of perpetual bewilderment. The work should be ready for printing in a few months and be available from this website within the year.
